I was informed this morning that my Petsmart will not be honoring competitor's coupons anymore starting Monday October 19th. I guess the economy is taking a toll on them. I don't know if it's a local or national decision but I hope it's only a local thing..

Free Vet Exam from Banfield

If you have a Petperk card you can enter the number to get a free exam/visit for Banfield Pet Hospital inside Petsmart. All Banfields are operated by different vets so read reviews to see which one is the best in your area. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend using them as a regular vet since all the services they offer are crazily expensive compared to the vets in my area. However, they are open on Sunday, unlike most vets, so going to them for minor stuff like antibiotics or ear infections would be cheaper than running to a 24 hours emergency vet.


Be warned, they will try to sell you the wellness package which is a monthly payment plan for yearly wellness services as they do to everyone who doesn't have a wellness plan. Keep in mind it's not insurance so you won't be able to cancel for a year it if you change your mind later. So if you don't want it, be firm and say NO.

Guys, I just got a coupon booklet in the mail from Petsmart for a lot of stuff like food, toys, treats and supplies. I think it was because I signed up for a Pet Perks card on their website. I lost my old one so I signed up for a new one online and I started getting a few coupons here and there for a month or two. Then I got this big coupon booklet full of really good coupons. So I suggest you guys sign up for a card or sign up for another card to try and get this booklet too. The Petsmart coupons added with the $5 off $25 coupons will give you a lot of savings.

The deal here is that if you have a big dog, the prices are a couple dollars lower than other places. If you don't have a membership, try drugstore.com. If you're a new customer or if you want to sign up for another account, you get to use their $10 off $50 coupon. Just Google "$10 off drugstore.com". The shipping is also free.

Also, if you have a small dog or a couple of small dogs, here's a trick to saving money. I do this for my own three dogs. If you read the package's ingredients for the different weight categories you'll find that the concentration of the active ingredients are the same in all the packages, except there's more of the Frontline liquids/meds for the bigger dogs. Therefore, I always buy the Frontline for the big dogs, put all the liquid from the applicator into a disposable cup and measure out the correct amount for my dog based on the weight chart. Below is the chart I got off 1800 pet meds. Since my dogs are all under 22 lbs, I took .67 ml multiplied it by 3 to get 2.01 ml. That tells me that if I buy the 45-80 lb box which has 2.68 ml per applicator I'll have enough meds to give to all three dogs plus some extra if I were to make a mistake and spill. I use a baby medicine dispenser I got for free at my Wal-Mart pharmacy which always gives me a good estimate but if you want a precise measurement, ask your pharmacist what they would recommend. Thus, at $34.99/3pk, I only spend $3.89 per dog each month. A fraction of the $11-$12 something odd dollars I'd spend if I were to buy the applicator for dogs under 22lb.

Hello everyone,

I just like to start my blog with a little explanation on why I'm starting this blog. Ever since I visited the pound for the first time, I've discovered my calling in life. Rescuing animals. I've taken in cats and have adopted 3 shelter pets already. As of now, I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. However, I'm also a struggling college student. I don't work because of my course load as a double major and I have no help except for student loans. Thus, over the years I have started to clip coupons to make food and snacks for my furbabies more affordable. With the economy lately, I decided that it was time for me to start helping other pet owners who also don't have a lot of money to spare. Each week, I will attempt to post great deals that I think are worth while and hopefully save some money for anyone reading this blog.
